Dear family, hello you, My name is Tim and I am a 26 years old and experienced educator. I come from Germany, near Cologne with the great big church It is bigger than you can imagine. At first i want to say that i am currently working as a Care Professional in Boston. I take care of 2 Boys (10&13). The older one has ADHD and difficulties to ?read the room?. Things are not working out and my Host-Familie and i decided to go to this next step. We still have a good relationship and I appreciate the moments I could enjoy with them. I am Living in a small town. The town is called Meckenheim and it's also where I work. In 2017 I graduated as an educator after finishing a three-year vocational training. After graduation, I started to work in a daycare, where I currently still work. The name of the daycare is called in German 'Kita Apfelbaum' in English it is called Appletree because in our town we have a lot of fields with a lot of apple trees. So we also called the 'Appletown' - but Unfortunately not the Tech-Company I currently work in a group with 28 children in age of 3 years - 6 years. Available Now! Tim is a 26 year old Educator with a 4 year degree in Early Childhood Education with both Infant Care and Special Needs experience. He has been working with a family in Massachusetts since September of 2023, where he has cared for 2 boys, one with special needs. Tim previously worked in an integrative kindergarten in Germany for 7 years. He loves working with children of all abilities, and would love to observe therapies in order to assist your child even better! Tim describes himself has having the ability to connect to children easily and be a good role model to them. He enjoys exploring the outdoors and nature photography. Tim has daily driving experience for over 6 years and has driven often with his Host Kids since his arrival in the US. What are some ways you can think of to prevent and deal with culture shock and home sickness when they arise?
I call my family or district myself. I will address this openly and not hide it. Talking will help.
Important qualities and skill of the Au Pair:
They need to be experience working with 1-2 year olds and preschool age children.
For the 1-2 year old they need to be comfortable getting down on the ground and helping Finn with his gross and fine motor skills. They need to love to read, do art or play music to engage him creatively as well.
For our 4 year old, just be fun and loving! She loves ballet, dramatic play, baking, arts and crafts. So someone who is able to make up activities easily!
Most important things when selecting an Au Pair:
- 1) Experience with 1-4 year olds. Mainly important with the younger kids as they will spend more time with him.
- 2) Independent.
- 3) Engaging with the kids - loves spending time with kids!
- 4) Organized and proactive around the house.
List of responsibilities the Au Pair will have:
- 1) Helping with breakfast and/or making lunch for Evie
- 2) Pick up and/or drop off (one kid - depends on the day).
- 3) On certain days being with Finn and taking him on walks, to the library, music class, swimming, playground, gymnastics.
- 4) Help with dinner, bath, bed time. So light cooking for the kids and clean up.
- 5) Help with random errands to the grocery store.
Most important rules at home:
- 1) Clean up after yourself and the kids.
- 2) Take shoes off in the house.
- 3) Be proactive if you see something that needs to be cleaned.

Au Pair's private bedroom:
It is private with its own pedestrian entrance.
It has its own shower/bathroom, a queen bed, chairs, a pelaton, fridge, sink, kettle, and microwave. So its pretty amazing! Very light and pretty room.
It is by the swimming pool and hot tub so in the summer on weekends we will likely be down there.
