"Dear Family" Letter:

What profession did you choose and why did you do so? I have been a caregiver for over 30 years for all ages and with various special needs. I am passionate about this field of work. I am dedicated to my career and I am completing my Registered Behavior Technician certification. I chose this career because I have compassion, understanding, and patient; and because ultimately my passion is making a difference in the lives of others. Why did you decide to work as a live-in caregiver? I chose to do live-in caregiving to be as much help to the family as possible and help individuals with living a normal day-to-day life while at home and out in the community. This profession has made a difference in my life and I do not see any other profession I would want to do. My personal goal right now other than helping others is to finish my Registered Behavioral Technician course. Why are you the best fit for a family and what are your specials skills when working with children? I feel that I am the best fit because I am easy to get along with and can calmly work through stressful situations. I have worked with special needs since 2012 and not only do I have the passion, but also the compassion for others and helping others succeed. I previously worked with a girl who has downs syndrome, and her mother called me to tell me she was going to start a procedure. This mother has kept in contact with me throughout the years to update me on her daughter. It truly is nice to learn how far my clients have come. How do you like to spend your free time? I spend my free time reading and working in the yard. I also enjoy spending quality time with friends and family. I have family in different states and keeping in touch with them is what I love doing. How would you describe your driving skills? My driving skills are great and I drive pretty much every day. I am 46 years old and have been driving since I was 16 and I have not been in any accident nor have I gotten a traffic ticket. What else should a family know about you? The family should know that I am loyal, honest, friendly, and I love a family atmosphere. I realized it is my passion is to make a difference and I am here to help you. Lastly, I spent a year at Falcon children’s homes. It is one of the largest groups home in the US. There I assisted children from ages 13-16 years old, and siblings too. I wish to again do live-in caregiving because I have been considered a house parent and an additional support system to the families.

Ideal family location

What are some ways you can think of to prevent and deal with culture shock and home sickness when they arise?

Important qualities and skill of the Au Pair:

They need to be experience working with 1-2 year olds and preschool age children.

For the 1-2 year old they need to be comfortable getting down on the ground and helping Finn with his gross and fine motor skills. They need to love to read, do art or play music to engage him creatively as well.

For our 4 year old, just be fun and loving! She loves ballet, dramatic play, baking, arts and crafts. So someone who is able to make up activities easily!

Most important things when selecting an Au Pair:

  1. 1) Experience with 1-4 year olds. Mainly important with the younger kids as they will spend more time with him.
  2. 2) Independent.
  3. 3) Engaging with the kids - loves spending time with kids!
  4. 4) Organized and proactive around the house.

List of responsibilities the Au Pair will have:

  1. 1) Helping with breakfast and/or making lunch for Evie
  2. 2) Pick up and/or drop off (one kid - depends on the day).
  3. 3) On certain days being with Finn and taking him on walks, to the library, music class, swimming, playground, gymnastics.
  4. 4) Help with dinner, bath, bed time. So light cooking for the kids and clean up.
  5. 5) Help with random errands to the grocery store.

Most important rules at home:

  1. 1) Clean up after yourself and the kids.
  2. 2) Take shoes off in the house.
  3. 3) Be proactive if you see something that needs to be cleaned.

Post secondary accredited educational opportunities in hometown area:

Au Pair's private bedroom:

It is private with its own pedestrian entrance.

It has its own shower/bathroom, a queen bed, chairs, a pelaton, fridge, sink, kettle, and microwave. So its pretty amazing! Very light and pretty room.

It is by the swimming pool and hot tub so in the summer on weekends we will likely be down there.
