My Travel

Once you are in the U.S., before you travel internationally you will need to have a travel validation signature added to your DS-2019 form by apex PROaupair. This signature allows you to re-enter the United States during your program year.

In order to receive a travel validation signature, please send your DS-2019 along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

! Please do not send your passport/visa to PROaupair. We do not need it to travel validate your DS-2019.

Your travel validation signature is valid for one year. You do not need to have your DS-2019 form signed for each international trip. Your travel validation signature will be valid for the duration of your current program year. Should you extend for a second year, you will need an updated travel signature.

Traveling to Canada?

If you are arriving to Canada by air, you will need to obtain a Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) prior to your trip. You apply for the trip online and it costs about $7.

Click here to apply for an eTA .Please note, you do not need an eTA card if you are entering Canada by ground transportation (car, bus, train, etc). Note that there may be COVID travel restrictions in place. Review policies carefully before you travel.

Traveling to another country?

You may need a tourist visa to enter your destination country. We recommend that you visit www.projectvisa.com to quickly confirm if you need a tourist visa prior to leaving for your trip.

We recommend that you complete your international travel and plan your return to the U.S. at least 30 days prior to the expiration date on your J1-visa. As well, please be sure to review all COVID travel policies and restrictions before you travel.
